CFF Funding Continued

It's last minute time for the PA budget and it appears funding WILL be cut. In recent articles (http://www.timesleader.com/news/Rendell_to_cut_grants_to_enhance_technology_06-27-2009.html), Governor Rendell has agreed to completely cutting CFF funding. This comes as a blow but not a shocker to those involved with the CFF grant. I know that CFF funding has done great things for the school where I work and know that continued funding will be greatly missed. Hopefully, the networks created in the past two years will be able to continue without the grant such that teachers have a place to turn with questions and to turn to to find collaborators for student projects.

Find Me a PowerPoint

We all know that creating PowerPoints or FlipCharts takes time. In the past I've showed you how to use prometheanplanet.com to search for FlipCharts to use, but what if you can't find something and you need something ASAP? Well, you could find a PowerPoint instead and either use it as a PowerPoint or convert it to a .flipchart. HOW? The easiest way is to use Google Advanced Search.
1. Go to http://www.google.com/.
2. Click on Advanced Search (to the right of the search box).
3. Type in the topic you are searching
4. Look down the page and find File Type
5. Choose Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt)

Now your search will return PowerPoints on the topic you selected!!!!

CFF Funding 2009 - 2010

It appears that this year funding for Classrooms for the Future (CFF) is going to come down to the last minute again. In a recent article Governor Rendell proposed that CFF funding be cut as part of balancing the state budget. I'm still hoping that not all funding is cut and that our school will be able to recieve some new equipment this year and that training can continue. Having the equipment is great, but knowing how to implement it and then doing so is key to engaging students in learning.
